Beginning of international program of theatrical education
’Two Open Weeks of PLAVO theatre’
The international program of theatrical education ’Two Open Weeks of PLAVO theatre’ will be held from July 19 until August 1, 2015 in Belgrade. This international practical and theoretical program is open for people interested in work inside of a theatrical laboratory through specific methodology of PLAVO theatre.
The two weeks long program is an opportunity for participants to meet with the work of PLAVO theatre through series of events: theatre workshops, performances, presentations, lectures, meetings, video presentations. As participants of the program we invited professional and semi-professional actors, directors, other theatre artists, dancers, as well as theatre and dance students and other people who are interested in contemporary theatre from fourteen countries of Central Europe.
Our aim is to share with participants the idea of theatre as a place of communication, a place of self-researching and space of open mind where some important things about us and the world that surrounds us could be said. Special focus in work will be put on different cultures participants come from. Although the language of the program will be English, participants will use their own languages and vocal and literary tradition of their cultures in creation of their performing materials.
The program was established in 2004 and for 12 years it has been gathering young artists from the world of performing arts in Belgrade. This year PLAVO Theatre celebrates 20 years of work and existence as independent theatre group. The program ‘Two Open Weeks of PLAVO Theatre’ represents one of the anniversary events and it has a special meaning for us, since it has been realized every summer for already twelve years.
The program starts on Sunday, July 19th at 20:00 with PLAVO theatre performance ’Ema’. The first workshop ’Dance of Memory’, led by PLAVO theatre actress Masa Jelic, starts on Monday, July 20th, in the space of PLAVO theatre in Belgrade.
The program is supported by Central European Initiative and Ministry of Culture and Informing of Serbia.
